Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an event planner and an event production company?
A planner owns strategy, budget, timeline, and vendor coordination, the logistics that make an event happen. A production company owns the technical execution on show day: AV, lighting, staging, and the live show. Many of the companies here do both, and the profiles say which.
How much do event management companies charge?
Some charge a flat project fee, others a percentage of the event budget or a day rate for on-site management. Starting prices are on each profile. A freelance show caller might start in the hundreds per day, while a full-service management firm for a large conference runs into five figures.
When should I hire an event planner?
The higher the stakes, the earlier. For a large conference or a leadership offsite, bring a planner in during budgeting so they can shape scope and lock venues and vendors early. For a smaller internal event, a freelance planner or show caller closer to the date can be enough.
